NEW YORK (77WABC) — The NYPD is asking for help in identifying a man who robbed one of their own of his gun and wallet in the Bronx.

Police say on Wednesday July 27 around 12:30 a.m., the 23-year-old officer was in front of 940 Garrison Avenue removing items from the back of his vehicle, when the mugger approached him from behind and displayed a gun, demanding his property. The man then took the officers wallet and gun before fleeing on foot to parts unknown.
No injuries were reported.
The thief is described as a man in his 30’s, with a medium build, and a black afro and last seen wearing a black shirt, black shorts, white sneakers, a black face mask and a fanny pack around his chest.
