Intern Dean Pavlou – Why Pete Alonso is Making the Case to Win MVP This Year

homepage-2-2

On Tuesday Night against the Brewers Pete Alonso added two more rbi’s in the Mets 4-0 win over Milwaukee. This year Alonso is putting up MVP numbers posting a batting average of .289 with 18 home runs, 59 rbi’s and an on base percentage of .368. Alonso also has a slugging percentage of .560 and an ops of .928. The Mets power hitting first baseman has a hard-hit rate of 47.3% with an average exit velocity of 90.3 which is another incredible stat. At this rate Alonso is definitely headed for the All-Star Game in Los Angeles and could possibly try to three peat as home run derby champion if invited to participate. Alonso has also improved defensively for the Mets. The impressive thing about Alonso is the fact that he is always looking to improve his game whether its offensively or defensively and everyone can see that on a nightly basis. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Pete the rest of the year, because I have no doubt that he will continue to get better as the year goes on. If Alonso keeps playing like he is now there is a good chance that he will win MVP.
