Last night was not the Mets night as they fell 7-0 to the Padres in game two of this three game set, but that was not the main story in this game. In the 1st inning Starling Marte tried to steal second but got caught stealing, but that was the least of the Mets worries as Marte came down with tightness in his left quad on the play and left the game soon after. In the 2nd inning Pete Alonso got hit on the hand by Pitcher for the San Diego Padres Yu Darvish on a fastball. This had Alonso on the ground in pain, and Mets fans holding their breath as their best player exited the game. These two players have made such a big impact for the Mets so far this season, and even though they have overcome so much already this year they can’t afford to lose Marte and Alonso for a long period of time. This was a rough night for the Mets but if Marte and Alonso’s MrI’s come back clean the Mets will be able to breath a sigh of relief. The Mets will go for the series win against the Padres in the series finale.
