The Mets come into the day with a 35-17 record and a 10.5 game lead in the NL East over the defending World Series champion Atlanta Braves. The Mets went 6-0 on their homestand sweeping the Phillies and Nationals. The Mets now have a big 10 game road trip coming up where they will face the Dodgers, Padres, and Angels. The Mets can really show what they’re made of in these next 10 games and continue to prove to people that they’re a serious World Series contender. A lot of the Mets players have been hot as of late including Francisco Lindor who has been much better with the Mets in year two, Pete Alonso, Starling Marte and Mark Canha. Lindor who just won NL Player of the Week is batting .261 with 8 home runs and 43 runs batted in, while Pete Alonso otherwise known as the polar bear is batting .284 with 13 home runs, and 47 runs batted in. Marte has really heated up as of late and is hitting .286 with 6 home runs and 31 runs batted in. Marte is also a great defensive player and has helped the Mets a lot out in Right Field. An underrated signing that has paid off for the Mets was the signing of Mark Canha formerly of the Oakland Athletics. Canha is hitting .299 with 4 home runs and 20 runs batted in. The Mets bats will look to stay hot as they start their west coast trip tonight in LA.
