NEW YORK, NEW YORK-(77 WABC)- A black eye for the NYC Department of Education. Dozens of employees are being placed on unpaid leave for allegedly using fake COVID-19 vaccine cards. The number reported to be around 70 employees.
Mayor Eric Adams reacting saying—“I’m really disappointed to learn that there were fake vaccination cards. Not only is it illegal, it undermines our entire trust. My understanding it is being investigated, and we are going to see the outcome of the investigation.”
The United Federation of Teachers is expected to appeal the move.
Adams said he is not considering lifting the vaccine mandate for municipal employees.
