NEW YORK (77 WABC) — The father and son duo who jumped into action when a woman was being robbed and stabbed outside their Elmhurst pizzeria are speaking out.
68-year-old Cazim Suljovic and his son Louie were stabbed as they fought off three suspects. The father and son say NYC’s crime surge has forced them to take public safety into their own hands.
The two told the New York Post that “people have to protect themselves, because the government is not doing it.”

“There is no law,” said the elder Suljovic. “This is why the people do it. You can stand outside your own door, with many people in the street, and you’re still not safe.”
Two suspects in the case have been taken into custody, however police say a third suspect remains at large. The 61 year old female victim was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
