NEW YORK (77WABC) – Authorities continue to investigate a deadly shooting on the LIRR.
Investigators say a man was shot on board a train at the Ronkonkoma station around 1:45 this morning. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority says the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooter fled.
The train had been scheduled to leave for Penn station. Police say the gunman and the victim knew each other–and was not a random shooting. In 1993–Colin Ferguson shot and killed six LIRR commuters at the Garden City–Merillon station.
