U.S. Attorney John Durham
WASHINGTON (77WABC) — John Durham — the special counsel appointed under Former President Donald Trump to investigate the FBI’s probing of Russian interference in the 2016 election — alleges in a court filing that a tech executive “exploited” access to White House data in order to find information about Trump.
According to The Hill, the filing reveals that a tech executive identified in court papers only as “Tech Executive Number 1” exploited access to White House data in order to potentially find damaging information about then-presidential candidate Trump. “Tech Executive Number 1” is identified in news reports as Rodney Joffe.
The filing also claims he used his company’s access to nonpublic government domain name system (DNS) data to analyze links between the Trump Organization and a Russian bank.
Durham is prosecuting attorney Michael Sussman who worked on behalf of the democrats and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign. Sussman faces a single count of making false statements to the FBI’s general counsel. The filing surfaced during Durham’s prosecution against Sussman.
Neither Joffe nor the company from which he retired in 2021, Neustar, have been charged with any wrongdoing.
