NEW YORK (77WABC) — The NYPD is looking for a man in connection to an attempted rape near the 9th Precinct.
On February 12 around 5 a.m., the man approached a 23-year-old woman inside the lobby of her apartment building, located near St. Marks Place and 1st Avenue. Police say the man then sexually assaulted the woman who then fled with her purse which had a camera, a wallet and credit card.
According to the NYPD, the woman was treated at an area hospital for a swollen lip and lacerations to her mouth. She is currently in stable condition.
Video released by the NYPD shows the suspect, who has short black hair, wearing a unique yellow and black checkered shirt, black shoes, black pants and a gray and black jacket over the shirt.
