NEW YORK (77WABC) — First lady Jill Biden will visit a New York City school Wednesday amid her call for teachers to get a pay raise.

The White House said that Biden will “visit a local public school” in the afternoon, but provided no additional details.

“I think Joe is saying, ‘We have to pay our teachers more.’ And we’re getting more money to the schools,” the First Lady said on CBS Mornings. “I mean, they have to give more money to teachers. I mean, it’s just the bottom line.”

President Biden won’t be joining her in New York City as he’s scheduled to visit Scranton, Pa., Wednesday to promote both his $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure deal and the long-stalled $3.5 trillion social spending plan. Before flying to New York, the First Lady will stop in DC at the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy’s adult literacy summit.
