WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (77WABC) — A North Carolina high school was placed on lockdown Wednesday after at least one person was reportedly shot on campus, according to police.

News station WXII first reported that Winston-Salem police got a call just after 12 p.m. from a school resource officer about someone shot at Mount Tabor High School.

“Mount Tabor High School is on lockdown. There has been a shooting on school property,” the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook. “We and the WSPD have secured the campus and are doing everything possible to keep students safe.”

“We are actively investigating what happened and will share confirmed information as appropriate,” the post added.

The sheriff’s office said it had started transporting all students to a nearby Harris Teeter supermarket, guiding parents to head there to reunite with their children.

No further details were provided. The condition of the victim has not been released.
