A Flash Flood Watch is in Effect for the Tri-State as Tropical Depression Ida Approaches

New York, NY (77WABC)-With the ground already saturated from recent rains, the remnants of Hurricane Ida, could bring anywhere from 2 to 5 inches of rainfall to the Tri-State area Wed. into Thursday. Forecasters say locally higher amounts of rainfall are possible.

Some areas in the tri-state could experience flash flooding:

 

Ida struck Louisiana on Sunday as a category five hurricane, with 150 mph winds. It is currently a tropical depression.

More than 1 million homes and businesses in Louisiana are without power. including all of New Orleans. There is  catastrophic damage to transformers. That left millions of people in the dark for what could be weeks.

Two people are reported dead in Louisiana. One person was killed when a tree fell, another reportedly drown in a car during flooding. In Mississippi two people are reported dead and 7 hurt as Ida caused the collapse of Highway 26 near Lucedale.
