With new Coach Robert Saleh and third year GM Joe Douglas at the helm, the Jets are looking to turn this team and franchise around. Ever since Joe Douglas took over, many people have said that he has done a great job both in Free Agency and the Draft. In the 2020 draft, Douglas drafted Left Tackle Mekhi Becton who was a monster in his first year. Denzel Mims, who missed time due to injury early in the year, really impressed once he came back, finishing with 23 catches and 357 yards along with some highlight reel contested catches. Douglas parlayed his good fortune into 2021 by drafting BYU quarterback Zach Wilson who finished with 33 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions last season. With their second 2021 draft pick, the Jets traded up to number 14 and drafted offensive guard Alijah Vera Tucker from USC. Adding Tucker bolsters their offensive line substantially and enables them to create a strong base with Becton and Vera Tucker for many years to come. After trading up, the Jets thought there was no shot that Ole Miss stud Wide Receiver Elijah Moore would fall in their laps at pick 34 but he did. Moore is an incredible player that can make plays all over the field, and in his college 2020 season he finished with 86 receptions, 1193 yards and 8 touchdowns. It’s no surprise that Moore has been opening eyes and dropping jaws this preseason at camp.

On Saturday the Jets had there Green and White scrimmage before they kick off next week vs the Giants.  Zach Wilson went 11 of 24 for 112 yards and two interceptions. The Jets shouldn’t worry too much about Wilson’s performance being it was his first time in an NFL stadium with fans, so surely nerves played a factor into his performance. It will be interesting to see how he responds on Saturday against the Giants.
