New York, NY (77WABC)-Police Monday arrested Calvin Peterkin of the Bronx in connection with last Thursday’s incident in which he allegedly opened fire on NYPD officers who responded to a 911 call following a menancing incident at a Boost Mobile.
Police say the 39-year-old is charged with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, two counts of Criminal Use of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Menacing.
Employees at the Boost Mobile at 985 East 174th St. called police reporting Peterkin became involved in a dispute with store employees. Police say Peterkin produced a firearm and menaced the employees at the location. Responding police officers encountered Peterkin outside the location, where he discharged a handgun at officers. Two officers returned fire. Peterkin fled on foot. Police recovered a semi-automatic handgun from underneath a parked vehicle in the vicinity of the incident location.
The officers were not struck by gunfire, however they were taken to a local hospital to be checked out for tinnitus.
