Astoria, NY (77WABC)-A 29-year-old man riding a scooter was struck and killed allegedly by an SUV driver as the motorist crashed into an outdoor dining area at Ditmars Blvd. and 39th St. around 8 pm Thursday.
The name of the man killed has not yet been made public. Police say the 60-year-old female driver remained at the scene. She is in stable condition at a hospital. Investigators think the woman may have suffered some type of medical episode prior to the fatal crash.

The man on the scooter was pronounced dead at the scene. A 32-year-old woman suffered minor injuries to her legs when the vehicle smashed into the dining area at 33-20 Ditmars Blvd.
