Nassau County, NY (77WABC)-Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder has announced that a reward has climbed to $20,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of a suspect who threw a hazardous substance in the face of a female Hofstra student last month as she returned to her Elmont Home.

Ryder promised, “My advice is to surrender yourself now because we’re gonna get you, we’re coming for you.”

You can hear Ryder’s comments in 77WABC Corr. Bob Brown’s report below:

The attack left  21-year-old Nafiah Ikram’s face and eyes scarred. Her vision has partially returned but not completely.. There was fear she would be left blind from the attack captured on surveillance:

As for a vehicle suspected in connection with the attack, “The vehicle that we have on video at multiple locations is a 2013-2015 red Nissan Altima with yellow New York plates,” Ryder said.

Ikram is a pre-med student at Hofstra University. She was attacked the night of March 17th. The substance used is under investigation and has not yet been identified. Ikram said it turned her face ash gray, making her feel like her face was on fire. The liquid substance melted through her jacket and burned her arms.

Tips can be submitted to the Nassau County Crime Stoppers website. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
