Queens, NY (77WABC)-Six-week-old twins were discovered dead inside of an apartment at the Woodside Houses during a wellness check with obvious signs of trauma. Police say the twin’s 23-year-old mother is in police custody for questioning, however formal charges have not yet been announced.
NYCHA Housing Chief David Barrere said the first infant was found “inside of a crib unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to the body.”He said the second infant was found “under a sink area wrapped in a blanket and was also unconscious and unresponsive.” Police say a knife was discovered at the crime scene.

A neighbor at the complex on 51st St. in Astoria said she had not seen much of the newborn’s mother but called the discovery tragic and “heartbreaking.”
The NYPD identifies the infants Dakota and Dallis Bentley both 46-days-old of 31-76 51st Street, Apt. 5A. The twins were born on March 7th. Their father has not been identified.
An investigation is ongoing.
The Medical Examiner will make an official determination as to the cause of death.
