A Queens Car Wash Attendant Charged With Hitting and Killing A Pedestrian

( Queens, NY/77WABC)-An Ozone Park car wash attendant, 43-year-old Edwin Vargas, faces numerous charges including vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated after allegedly fatally running over a 54-year-old female pedestrian at a car wash located at 135-18 Cross Bay Boulevard Monday. Police say Vargas was driving a 2011 Jeep Liberty and exiting the car wash bay when the woman was struck. Police say Vargas then hit a parked vehicle before the Jeep Liberty came to a stop.

Vargas was taken into custody at the scene by officers from the 106th Precinct. Charges against Vargas, of 84-24 102 nd St in Queens, include Vehicular Manslaughter, Vehicular Assault, DWI, and DWAI.

 The injured woman was transported by EMS to Jamaica Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

 The investigation by the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing. The identity of the deceased is pending family notification.
