NY: Melinda Kazt – Queens District Attorney
(Long Island City, Queens NY/77WABC)-Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz has announced that 1.7 million fake 3M N95 masks have been seized from a Long Island City Warehouse. The masks were sold to unsuspecting medical providers in the South, which the DA did not identify.
The manager of the warehouse is under arrest and others are under investigation. Katz says the manager is identified as 33-year-old Zhi Zeng of Dyker Heights Brooklyn, NY.
Undercover agents made buys at the warehouse location before it was raided Tuesday.
Katz said, “Shipping labels on the boxes indicate they come from outside the country.”
Besides the fake 3M N95 masks, sanitizing liquid and wipes were also discovered at the warehouse. Katz says their authenticity is also under investigation.
