A Manhattan Woman Facing Charges In An Infant Death

(New York, NY-77WABC)-The NYPD says a  Manhattan woman is charged in connection with the death of a 2-month-old infant boy.

Police say 24-year-old Alyssa Owens is charged with three counts of Assault and  Acting in a Manner Injurious to a Child Less than 17 Years of Age.

On Sunday, January 24, 2021, shortly after noon, police responded to a 911 call of an unconscious infant inside of 339 West 39 Street, room 1305, within the confines of the

Midtown South Precinct.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 2-month-old male infant, unconscious and unresponsive. Police say the infant showed no obvious signs of trauma. EMS responded

and transported the infant to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The infant is identified as Antonio Diaz of 339 West 39th St. The relationship

between the woman charged and the infant has not yet been released.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
