Meet 63 year old Sherry from Downtown Brooklyn. She’s been living in Penn Station on and off for the past 5 years after becoming homeless in Florida 10 years ago.
She pleaded to us about how living underground is a very dangerous place and relayed that she recently had been assaulted with no ability to defend herself or her few meager possessions. Lucid, in control of mental & physical faculties but yet no city agency can help her.
When her mother died in 2001, Sherry was left with no family or friends in New York and being down & out on her luck has left her on the streets since 2010. We must as a society help Sherry so she can live her life productively & not in fear each and every day.
