(New York, New York) – Under President Donald Trump, the United States added 178,000 jobs in March, topping grim expectations. The Department of Labor released the report on Friday morning. The figure crushed a poll conducted by LSEG, which expected only 60,000 jobs. LSEG also expected an unemployment rate of 4.4%, while Trump delivered 4.3%.
Government Payrolls
With a net -8000 jobs, government payrolls took a dip. Federal Government at -18,000 jobs, State at -4,000 jobs, and balancing the deficit out, Local Governments around the nation added 14,000 jobs.
Private Sector
In March private payrolls grew by over 180,000 jobs shocking the gain of only 70,000. The strong fain signals continued resilience within the market despite broader economic concerns. It also caugh economist off-guard who expected much slower growth.
