(Waukesha, Wisconsin) An 18-year-old man has been sentenced to two life sentences without the possibility of parole after being convicted of killing his parents as part of a disturbing plot prosecutors say was tied to plans to assassinate former President Donald Trump.
The teenager, Nikita Casap, was sentenced this week following his conviction for the murders of his mother and father. Prosecutors said the killings were part of a broader and “extreme” plan in which Casap sought to eliminate his parents so he could pursue a violent political plot.
According to court documents, investigators uncovered evidence showing Casap had expressed intentions to target Trump, with authorities saying the murders of his parents were carried out to remove obstacles to his plans.
During the trial, prosecutors described the crimes as a calculated and deeply disturbing act, arguing that the murders were committed deliberately as part of a larger scheme. The court ultimately sentenced Casap to two consecutive life sentences, ensuring he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Officials said the case shocked investigators because of the defendant’s age and the nature of the alleged plot. Authorities noted that the sentencing means Casap will never be eligible for parole.
The case drew national attention after details emerged about the alleged assassination plot and the violent actions taken against his own family. Prosecutors said the life sentences reflect the severity of the crimes and the danger posed by the plan investigators uncovered.
