(Washington, DC) – Marco Rubio warned that Iran has significantly increased its missile production capacity, claiming the country is now producing up to 100 missiles per month.
Rubio made the remarks amid growing tensions between Tehran and Washington, raising concerns about Iran’s expanding military capabilities and the potential implications for regional and global security.
Rubio did not publicly cite specific intelligence sources but said the production rate underscores the urgency of addressing Iran’s weapons programs. Analysts have long expressed concern about Iran’s ballistic missile development, which has been a point of contention in nuclear negotiations and sanctions discussions.
Iran has consistently defended its missile program as a defensive measure, while U.S. officials and regional allies argue that the buildup poses a threat to stability in the Middle East.
National security experts say that if accurate, a production rate of that scale could allow Iran to rapidly replenish stockpiles and supply proxy forces in the region.
The claim comes as lawmakers debate further sanctions and potential diplomatic responses aimed at curbing Tehran’s military expansion.
Iranian officials have not yet publicly responded to Rubio’s specific production estimate.
The situation remains fluid as tensions between the two nations continue to evolve.
