(Schuylerville, NY) — Upstate New York New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik says she’s “strongly considering” a run for New York governor next year.
The 40-year-old Harvard University graduate says she’s “taking a hard look at it, and says the outpouring of support has been tremendous.”
The rural New York Republican’s nomination to become America’s United Nations ambassador fell through earlier this year because President Trump wanted her to stay in Congress, which has a thin GOP margin. Stefanik believes she can beat Democratic incumbent Kathy Hochul who says “bring it on.”
If Stefanik becomes the Republican gubernatorial nominee she would not be able to seek reelection to her swing district seat.
