Americans uneasy about Trump tariff plan

china-china-us-tariff

(New York, NY) — Nearly two-thirds of Americans disapprove of President Trump’s tariffs. A new ABC News-Washington Post-Ipsos poll  reveals seven-in-ten think the tariffs will increase U.S. inflation. Nearly half of Republicans polled think the tariffs will have a negative impact on inflation. The number rises to 75 percent among independents. Fifty-nine percent think President Trump’s tariffs will have a positive impact on creating manufacturing jobs in the U.S. — that includes 90 percent of Republicans and 60 percent of independents.

President Trump says it’s “unlikely” he will delay his tariff plan once again. He made the comment while on Air Force One today. Trump also said he wouldn’t stop tariffs on China “unless they give us something that’s substantial.” When asked what is something that would be considered “substantial,” Trump said “Well, free up China.”
