(Commack, NY) — Petco on Long Island is hatching a plan to help those who don’t want to spend a lot of money on eggs. The store in Commack is now selling live egg-laying female chicks It’s part of the retail chain’s pilot program for people who want to take matters into their own hands.
A store employee told the NY Post they sold out of their first two batches, with more on their way, with one baby chick going for $5.99. The pilot program started in five stores in late March. The birds come from a hatchery in Iowa.
