(New York, NY) — Columbia University is agreeing to demands from the Trump administration regarding how it handles antisemitism on campus to restore its federal funding. The news comes after the university was given a Friday deadline to either meet the demands, or risk losing over 400-million dollars in federal money.
Columbia now says it will implement a mask ban on campus when used to conceal identities. They’re also appointing a new senior vice provost who will be reviewing the Middle East Studies department. That position is expected to make sure the curriculum is “comprehensive and balanced.”
The University made national headlines last year, when student encampments took over the Morningside Heights Campus in what became violent pro-Palestinian protests.
