(New York, NY) — New York City Mayor Eric Adams is declaring 2025 “Fire Prevention Year” to mark the 100th anniversary of National Fire Prevention Week.
This year, the FDNY will provide targeted fire prevention and life safety educational resources to 100 blocks identified by the department as having the highest risk of fires. Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker just released an assessment of each neighborhood’s emergency preparedness and vulnerability to fire incidents.
While there has been several high-profile multiple-alarm fires in the city this year already, recent trends show fire deaths are down in all categories including ones related to lithium ion batteries which had been a big problem in the city.
