(New York, NY) – Daylight Saving Time is set to begin for most of the country this weekend.
Clocks will set forward an hour beginning at 2:00 a.m. this Sunday, March 9th, shifting 60 more minutes of daylight to the evening hours until the time moves back an hour again this fall. Most people change their clocks on Saturday night.
Fire officials say the twice-annual clock shift is a good time to test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and change batteries if needed.
It’s been happening since 1918 but more recent polls seem to show Americans are tired of it. Bills have been introduced to make Daylight Saving Time the year-round standard, but they’ve never made it far. President Trump promised on the campaign trail that the GOP would work to eliminate Daylight Saving Time but hasn’t issued any orders on the matter.
