Luigi Mangione appeared in court Friday (February 21, 2025) in New York. The 26-year-old is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson late last year. He appeared in shackles, under heavy guard and wearing a bulletproof vest over a green sweater. Mangione was clean-shaven and appeared healthy.
He is seeing no shortage of support. Outside the Manhattan courthouse Friday, a crowd of fans gathered, cheered sporting signs and shirts with his face on it. Inside, his lawyers and prosecutors gave updates on the case’s status.
Mangione has pleaded not guilty, the judge did not set a trial date. Mangione’s defense tried unsuccessfully to delay the case.
