(New York, NY) — Congestion pricing is triggering a push to restrict street parking to residents only in parts of Manhattan.
Manhattanites with cars who live above 60th Street are complaining that it’s been tougher than ever to find parking on the street because of non-residents parking just outside of the congestion zone, in order to avoid the nine-dollar toll, and then taking the train to Midtown or beyond.
Councilmember Carmen De La Rosa and Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine are behind a bill that would require residential permits to park in 80-percent of the spaces above 60th. No word on how much the permits would cost. The revenue would go toward road repairs.
