(Trenton, NJ) — With the start of a new year, New Jersey drivers are paying more to gas up. The Garden State gas tax has risen by two-point-six percent because of a new law raising money to fix decrepit roads and highways and to help fund transit projects.
So, for each gallon of gas you buy, you’re paying nearly 50-cents in taxes. That’s the 8th highest pump price tax burden in the nation. Here in New Jersey, the tax increase now pushes the average price of a gallon of regular to two-ninety-four. But the average price nationally still costs ten-cents more.
