(New York, NY) – A former top cop with the NYPD is attempting to clear his name following his recent sudden resignation. Former Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey is pushing back against claims that he engaged in quid-pro-quo sexual misconduct. Maddrey resigned last week after reports came out that he would demand sexual favors from one of his employees in exchange for overtime pay.  Lieutenant Quathisha Epps went public with her allegations after making headlines herself for her massive overtime earnings last year, surpassing $200,000 on top of her $164,000 base salary.

Maddrey, who was once the highest-ranking uniformed officer, says that the two did have a relationship but claims it was consensual. Maddrey told NBC4 New York that the pair were never “boyfriend & girlfriend” and there was also “no romance involved” calling it “an office fling”. Several offices from the NYPD to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg are investigating the situation. Meanwhile, Epps is pushing to get her old job back.
