(Staten Island, NY) – There’s a new update to the story that has everyone’s eyes to the skies in the Tri -State area. One stargazer says he witnessed a drone drop a glowing object on Staten Island. Retired NYPD detective John Scotto says he witnessed what he believed to be a military drone drop the object with a glowing light in the early hours of the morning before flying away back on December 14th. He called the NYPD to alert them of the scenario. When cops responded to the scene, Scotto tells the New York Post there was no clear protocol in how they should act.

This comes as the FAA placed temporary restrictions on flight areas in New York and New Jersey around critical infrastructure. Additionally, out on Long Island, authorities have been given the green light to shoot down any drones they deem a threat. Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder and County Executive Bruce Blakeman say the technology is there for them to respond but will only do so when deemed a threat to the public, such as at a mass gathering. The federal government maintains that the phenomenon does not pose a threat to national security.
