(Fairlawn, NJ) — The New Jersey Division of Fire Safety has warned firefighters across the state to stay away from downed drones and to notify the bomb squad if they do encounter one. The new guidelines are in place as reports of unexplained aircraft sightings continue to rise in the state. The New Jersey Division of Fire Safety’s instructions for fire crews include notifying the local police, the FBI and the nearest bomb squad as well as hazmat teams if they encounter a drone that has crashed or landed. So far, there’s no evidence of any downed drones.
The New Jersey naval station in Colts Neck is now confirming that unidentified drones have entered their airspace. Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden says he is one of the many who would like to know a whole more about the unmanned aircraft. He is warning county residents to refrain from shooting at them or risk jail time. The White House says the drones pose no threat, but have not detailed what they know about them.
