A Florida woman is accused of making a copycat threat following the deadly United Healthcare CEO attack in New York.
Briana Boston was in court Thursday (Dec. 12, 2024) to hear Assistant State Attorney Matthew Hendrey say she will be held in jail on a 100-thousand-dollar bond. A Lakeland police affidavit says Boston finished a call to Blue Cross over her denied insurance claims with the words, “Delay Deny Depose… you people are next.” Those were the words found inscribed on bullet casings at the scene of the fatal shooting of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City.
The 42-year-old woman reportedly told detectives healthcare companies “deserved karma” but insisted she doesn’t own firearms. Boston is charged with threatening to conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism.
Chief Sam Taylor with Lakeland, Florida Police says his department was contacted by the FBI on Tuesday (Dec. 10, 2024) about the recorded phone call between Boston and the insurance agent.
