(Dix Hills, NY) – A woman from Long Island City is facing murder charges related to the death of her 84 year old mother. Police in Suffolk County were responding to a call the night before Thanksgiving in Dix Hill not long after 9 p.m. The call came after the report of a stabbing victim on Carmen Court. Cops claim that when they got there, they found 84-year-old Josephine Bekatoros stabbed to death.
Homicide detectives were able to track down the victim’s daughter, Diana Bekatoros, at her home in LIC. She was charged with murder in the second degree and will have to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Newsday reports as she was leaving the Central Islip courthouse on Thanksgiving following her arraignment, she told a photographer who asked why she killed her mother “I never had a mother”. She is being held without bail.
