(Brooklyn, NY) — A Brooklyn man is facing charges for allegedly trying to kidnap a young child from one of his neighbors. Police say 28-year-old Stephan Stowe tried to grab the child from his father while he was walking with his family down Kingston Avenue in Crown Heights at around 3:30 on Saturday. Video of the incident was shared on social media, which shows Stowe pick up the six-year-old boy and lift him into the air. The boy was still holding on to his father’s hand, so he managed to pull his son back down to the ground.
Cops say Stowe lives on the same block as the family. The victims say they know him. Stowe has been charged with kidnapping, harassment, and acting in a manner that’s dangerous to a child. Police are not sure why he tried to kidnap the 6-year-old.
