(Saugerties, NY) – If you’re looking for the latest sign of people having lost their minds this election season, Halloween brought a fresh one. It turns out a 12-year-old kid was denied candy and even kicked off people’s property just for dressing up as former President Donald Trump in New York.
This happened in Saugerties, up in Ulster County. Jenilyn Jaeger tells the Daily Freeman that three households in the town’s Barclay Heights section took the extreme action in response to the Trump costume.
It’s far from unique to see kids dressed up as political figures, especially during election years. Rubber masks of Nixon, Reagan, and Clinton have been around for years. But few political figures inspire people to get into their emotions much like Trump.
Jaeger says her son — Carter — thought the costume would be funny. He wasn’t intending to be political, she adds. Now, the family has reported many are reaching out in support — including non-Trump fans.
