NY: Subway riding in New York
(New York, NY) — A teenage girl is dead, another is in critical condition after they both fell off a train while subway surfing late Sunday night in Queens, The girls were atop a 7 train, when one fell between the subway cars. She was instantly killed. The other victim, also a teenage girl fell off the car. She was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition.
The accident took place around 11 p.m. near 111th Street. Police have not released the names of the victims.
Six New Yorkers have been killed while subway surfing this year. Just last week, a 20-year-old was killed in a similar accident. Earlier this year, the MTA began an online public service campaign, warning teenagers about the dangers of subway surfing.
