(Gaza City) — The Israeli Defense Forces say they killed the leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, in Gaza. The IDF and Israeli security branch, Shin Bet, reportedly utilized DNA technology to confirm it was indeed Sinwar who was taken out by soldiers.
It was believed Sinwar had been using some of the Israeli hostages taken on October 7th as human shields. One reports says the three terrorists killed today were alone and that no hostages were found near by them.
Sinwar is considered to be one of the masterminds behind the October 7th, 2023 attacks on Israel. He took over leadership of Hamas this past summer, after his predecessor Ismail Haniyeh was killed in an explosion in Tehran in July.
