(New York, NY) — New Yorkers are marking the somber one-year anniversary of the surprise October 7th attack on southern Israel. They rallied in Central Park on Sunday, including a New Jersey mother whose son Edan [[ ay-DON ]] Alexander is one of the more than 100 hostages still being held by Hamas. Adi [[ Ah-DEE ]] Alexander says she has no idea whether her son, a recent graduate of Tenafly High School, is still alive and that living with the uncertainty is next to impossible.

Governor Kathy Hochul spoke at a memorial service Sunday night at Temple Israel Center in White Plains calling Hamas a “barbaric group of terrorists.” There’ll be a memorial for the lives lost in Israel today outside Columbia University. Pro-Palestinian groups, which claim more than 40-thousand lives lost when Israel retaliated, will be holding protests in various parts of Manhattan.
