(New York, NY) – The number of fatal cases of listeria continues to rise following an outbreak at a Boar’s Head deli meat plant. Federal health officials announced the 10th fatality which was reported in New York. This is the second death linked to the bacteria in the state. There were also two deadly cases in South Carolina. One fatal case occurred in New Jersey as well.
In total, 59 people across 19 states got sick from the bacteria outbreak. The plant where the bacteria was detected in Virginia has since shut down and the company announced that it was discontinuing production of liverwurst.
