NYPD Commish Caban’s Last Day

syndication-westchester-83

Members of the New York City Police Department

(New York, NY) – New York City has an interim NYPD Police Commissioner. Tom Donlon was sworn in as the city’s interim police commissioner at NYPD headquarters in lower Manhattan Friday (September 13th), and started work at One Police Plaza as Mayor Adams’s pick for Interim Top Cop. Donlon once served as New York’s director of the Office of Homeland Security and he also ran the FBI-NYPD Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Former Commissioner Edward Caban resigned Thursday,  one week after his phones were seized as part of a federal investigation involving several members of City Hall. Caban said in his resignation email he didn’t want to be a distraction and for the good of the city, and the department, he will quit.  Caban’s lawyer says the former commissioner is not the target of the government’s case and he’s cooperating with the investigation.

Reports claim investigators are looking into whether Caban’s twin brother James may have sought payments from nightclub owners in exchange for special protection from police.
