(New York, NY) — It’s back to school today for New York City’s one million public school students. Teachers say they are ready to welcome everyone back from summer vacation. Mayor Adams and schools Chancellor David Banks have been out talking to students and parents at P.S.257 in Brooklyn
On Wednesday, A 33-year-old teacher who was setting up his classroom in the Bronx was shot in the hand. A bullet went through Jhairo Colon’s sixth floor classroom window at M.S. 391. Colon was rushed to the hospital where his hand was stitched up. Police believe the bullet that hit him was meant for someone else in a an apartment building across the street. They have not found the gunman.
