(Raleigh, NC) – In a speech from Raleigh, North Carolina Friday, Kamala Harris laid out her economic plans if she wins the White House in November. She advocated boosting the child tax credit, increasing housing construction, and a federal ban on grocery price gouging. She announced plans for a 6,000- dollar tax cut to families with newborns and a 25-thousand dollar subsidy for first-time home buyers.
Grocery store owners are taking issue with Vice President Kamala Harris. Stew Leonard Jr, the CEO and owner of the grocery chain that bears his name, says she’s way off base. Leonard says the higher prices are a result of rising fuel costs, insurance premiums, and government regulation. Other critics of the price-gouging ban say it will only lead to higher prices and hoarding.
