(Washington D.C.) – Naming a running mate could be a big gamble for a presidential campaign, however for Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign her choice is paying off. Polls may be one way to measure a candidate’s chances, but several betting outlets also put out their own odds.
PredictIt originally had Harris and former President Donald Trump pretty close the days leading up to the announcement that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was joining the Democratic ticket. Trump was actually trailing by a mere two points. The day after Walz was named as Harris’s running mate, she jumped to a seven-point lead. RealClearPolitics’s average of betting odds had Trump leading by seven points, then the lead narrowed to three points with Trump still ahead.
