(New York, New York) – The Tri-State area was hit by thunderstorms and showers Tuesday night that led to some serious flooding. Drivers across New York City and New Jersey found themselves stuck on streets and highways by high water. The heavy downpours also caused delays on New Jersey Transit and led to cancellations at the big three area airports.
There was flooding along the Henry Hudson Parkway, forcing the FDNY to get involved to rescue drivers trapped. The highway was temporarily closed, but has since reopened with residual delays.
New Jersey faced a hard blow too from the storms Tuesday evening, in areas like Hackensack where their fire department estimated that half of their city was flooded out. They made numerous rescues overnight.
