(New York, NY) – Two NYPD officers were shot Thursday afternoon while responding to calls of an armed robbery. Both officers were struck by the same bullet while pursuing the suspect on foot. The wounded officers still managed to apprehend the suspect.
The cops were on the scene after a man entered a mahjongg parlor in the Lower East Side of Manhattan with a gun. The suspect was robbing women of their purses. Police say that the gun used by the suspect was illegally obtained. That suspect was identified as 22 year old Joshua Dorsett. Authorities say Dorsett is a known gang member with three prior arrests. His latest arrest was drug-related and he had recently met with his parole officer the morning before the shooting.
